CASEY BARRETT is the author of the Duck Darley crime series, published by Kensington Books. His debut novel, UNDER WATER, was nominated for a 2018 Shamus Award. The second, AGAINST NATURE, was released in August, 2018; the third, THE TOWER OF SONGS, is slated for release in September, 2019. He is a Canadian Olympic swimmer and the co‑founder and co‑CEO of Imagine Swimming, New York City’s largest learn‑to‑swim school. He moved to Manhattan in 1998 to work as an assistant and fact-checker at Rolling Stone magazine. He then spent some years in television, with NBC Olympics and as an investigative producer on the long-running syndicated show, Inside Edition. While with NBC, he won three Emmy awards and one Peabody award for his work on their broadcasts of the Olympic Games in 2000, 2004, 2006, and 2008. For many years, he was the author of the swimming blog 'Cap \u0026amp; Goggles', where he learned hard-fought lessons in free speech and libel law. He is now an active member of PEN America, defending the 'Freedom to Write' for journalists and writers across the world.\nCasey lives in Manhattan and the Catskill mountains of New York with his wife, daughter, and dog.
