He is a Canadian Olympic swimmer and the co‑founder and co‑CEO of Imagine Swimming, New York City’s largest learn‑to‑swim school. He moved to Manhattan in 1998 to work as an assistant and fact-checker at Rolling Stone magazine. He then spent some years in television, with NBC Olympics and as an investigative producer on the long-running syndicated show, Inside Edition. While with NBC, he won three Emmy awards and one Peabody award for his work on their broadcasts of the Olympic Games in 2000, 2004, 2006, and 2008. For many years, he was the author of the swimming blog 'Cap \u0026amp; Goggles', where he learned hard-fought lessons in free speech and libel law.
